Barnsley's Katherine Kelly thanked in her home town fans after scooping a National Television Award.
Katherine, who made a dramatic exit from Coronation Street as feisty Becky McDonald earlier this week, won 'Best Serial Drama Performance' at the awards at the O2 arena on Wednesday night.
She was unable to collect her award, as she was on stage at the National Theatre in the comedy, She Stoops to Conquer.
But she told the Chronicle: "I want to thank the people of Barnsley. I'm proud to be a Barnsley lass and hope I did them proud in return!
"Thank you to everyone who voted - it's a great feeling to have Barnsley folk backing you."It's all very surreal and I'm totally overwhelmed. But it's the perfect end to a perfect five years.
"It was the second show last night and I found out I had won at the interval so they ran me down to say a bit to camera.
"We were going to do a live link up but the audience (at the National Theatre) were laughing so much the show ran over."
The award was collected by Paula Lane, who plays her on-screen sister Kylie Platts.
