MORE than £6,000 was raised for Barnsley Hospice in a special fashion-focused event at the weekend.
The ‘30 Years of Fashion’ event on Saturday saw fashion designer for the late Queen Elizabeth II, Angela Kelly CVO, give expert advice on dressing well.
Guests were able to shop for pre-loved clothes, browse speciality stalls and enjoy a two-course meal.
Angela - who also wrote the Sunday Times’ best-selling novel ‘The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe’ - said she was ‘delighted’ to help the hospice.
Almost 150 people attended the event and through tickets, clothes sales and donations, a total of £6,419 has been raised for the hospice.
Vicky Stead, community relationships manager at the hospice, said: “Having not held a fundraising event like this in five years, we were over the moon to receive so much interest in ‘30 Years of Fashion’ and to see so many familiar and new faces on the day.
“Thank you to everyone who joined us, your support means so much to us and makes such a difference.
“Events like this simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of local businesses who donate their time and services.
“We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the team at Newsome’s Funeral Directors for sponsoring this event.
“Also, to K3 Cosmetic Dental Studio, Holiday Inn Barnsley, LoveLily Florist and Wedding Supplies, Daniel Berry Photography and Bespoke Balloons Barnsley for making the day so special and helping us raise such an incredible total.”
