BARNSLEY RUFC Ladies continued their strong second half of the season with another win but the men suffered a comprehensive home defeat.

Barnsley Ladies won 29-10 at Novocastrians.

Becky Patrick scored a hat-trick of tries with Jess Taylor-Roberts and Amy Moxon also touching down. Alix Taylor-Roberts added two conversions.

The Shaw Laners are sixth in Championship One North with 29 points from 14 games, and four more to play starting at home to Lichfield on Sunday.

They are ten points clear of the bottom two in the English second tier, having won the last four games they’ve played.

Barnsley’s men lost 39-0 at home to West Park Leeds. That left them third-bottom Yorkshire Division Three, with 25 points from 19 games.

They are three clear points of the bottom two with three games left, starting at Castleford on Saturday.

Wath lost 62-7 at Hullensians in Yorkshire Division One.

Wath are seventh with 39 points from 19 games.

They have three left to play starting at home to Keighley on Saturday.

Yorkshire Division Four champions Dearne Valley won 41-40 at second-placed Sheffield Medicals.

That left them 24 points clear at the top. Corey Cox scored a hat-trick of tries with Ant Hamilton, Ben Hartley and Bailey Woods also touching down.

Steve Shaw kicked three conversions with Callum Emery adding one as well as a drop goal.

Wortley won 54-19 against Knottingley in a clash of the bottom two.

Wortley are due to host Sheffield Medicals on Saturday.
