BARNSLEY’S very own Henry Cooper is now the Yorkshire champion in... you’ve guessed it, boxing.

The Barnsley Boxing Academy fighter, 17, won the Yorkshire elite crown on a show in Greasbrough last Wednesday.

Cooper, who’s from Worsbrough, saw off Eastburn’s Callum McLeod to get his hands on the belt.

Trainer Stephen Hartford said: “The lad he beat had twice as many bouts as Henry so it was a fantastic win.

“Boxing is booming in Barnsley at the minute with Callum Simpson and Henry will be looking to turn over in a few years.”
