A LOCAL dog breeding duo took a top spot at one of the world’s most well-renowned dog shows.
Crufts, the annual celebration of dogs, welcomed more than 20,000 four-legged friends into the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham, last week.
At the prestigious contest, husband and wife Clive and Gillian Knight, from Worsbrough, took their Manchester terrier, Teo, who was crowned ‘best of breed’.
Though it’s not their first taste of success, as since they started breeding dogs in 1991 they’ve taken home multiple titles at both English and world-level championships.
Gillian told the Chronicle: “We just love the dog and we’ve had great success.
“Crufts is just like any other dog show, there’s just more people there and it’s televised.
“But we go and have fun.”
It’s not only those two who enjoy themselves, as Teo - whose mother Tara has also won awards - had great fun on the day.
“He loves it,” Gillian added.
“At the event he was also part of the discover dogs section, where people visit to see all the different types of dogs.
“He was in this area where people got to come up, stroke him and feed him treats to get to know the breed better - he did best in that section too.”
