BARNSLEY RUFC sank back to the bottom of Yorkshire Division Three after a 48-10 loss at title contenders Halifax.

The defeat in their first game of 2025 left the Shaw Laners with ten points from 14 games, a point behind Thirsk who overtook them but have played a game more.

Barnsley – who have eight games left – now visit third-bottom Thornesians who are six points above them.

Barnsley Ladies’ game at home to leaders Cheltenham Tigers in Championship North One was called off.

The Shaw Laners are third-bottom with 14 points from nine games – four clear of the bottom two.

They are now due to visit Kenilworth on Saturday.

Wath lost 53-11 at Pocklington in Yorkshire Division One.

It was a fourth straight defeat for Wath who are seventh with 29 points from 14 games.

Wath are not due to play this coming week.
