Gaga Slonina’s return to Chelsea after a loan to Barnsley has been confirmed.
The American goalkeeper, 20, played 14 games on loan from the Premier League giants.
But he was dropped after some mistakes then picked up a finger injury which is still troubling him.
The Reds are expected to look for another goalkeeper in the January transfer window which opened today.
Sporting director Mladen Sormaz said: “It’s disappointing to have to say farewell to Gaga. We hoped to see him play a lot of games for Barnsley this season. However, the injury came at a bad time and unfortunately, that is the nature of the industry. His professionalism and work ethic have been outstanding, and we wish him well for the future.”
