Injuries are a tough part of football, and being sidelined right now isn’t where I want to be. But despite the setback, I find myself reflecting on how grateful I am to be here in Barnsley, doing what I love every day.

It’s easy to focus on the negatives when you’re injured, but I believe it’s important to stay positive and appreciate the bigger picture.

Being a professional footballer is a privilege. Every day, I get to live my dream, and that’s something I never take for granted. Of course, it’s tough being away from my family and friends back home, but being here with this team and this community makes it all worthwhile.

It reminds me that gratitude isn’t just reserved for special occasions like Thanksgiving – it’s something I try to feel every day.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, I’ve been thinking about how my family used to celebrate it. We weren’t the typical American family with all the traditional trimmings. My roots are Polish, so our meals were often a little different from the usual turkey and stuffing.

But the essence of the holiday was always the same: good food, good conversation, and most importantly, being surrounded by the people you care about. That’s what made it special for me, and that’s a feeling I carry with me even when I’m far from home.

For me, the best part of any holiday meal wasn’t the savoury dishes, though. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, so dessert was my highlight.

Whether it was a pie or something else sweet, that’s where I’d be happiest. Turkey and stuffing? Sure, they’re fine, but give me a slice of pie, and I’m smiling.

As I recover and watch from the sidelines, I’ve found myself surrounded by team-mates who make even the tough days easier.

Even though I’m currently unable to be on the pitch, I’m thankful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible club and community. Injuries will pass, but the memories and experiences I’m gaining here in Barnsley will stay with me for a lifetime.

For now, my focus is on recovery, supporting my team-mates, and staying in the moment. I’ll be back soon, and when I am, I’ll be more grateful than ever to pull on that shirt and play in front of the fans. Until then, thank you for your support. It means everything.

You Reds!
