A LIFESAVING defibrillator has been installed outside a Darfield pub after residents gathered together to donate to the cause.
Over the past few months, The New Cross Keys have been hosting a number of events to raise funds for the equipment.
Landlord of the pub, Dan Lawrence, has held classic car meets and even a dog show which have been met with support by locals who have been more than happy to part with their hard-earned cash.
More than £1,300 has now been raised and the defibrillator is now live.
Dan told the Chronicle: “The dog show was superb.
“On the day we managed to raise £865 but in total we’ve raised £1,360.
“I purchased the defibrillator from the British Heart Foundation rather than somewhere like Amazon as it would support other people.
“They’ve been really supportive and helpful since it was set up.”
On Wednesday, representatives from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service hosted a training session at the pub.
Dan added: “We had some training here on Wednesday.
“The defibrillator is here now.
“It’s available 24/7.
“It’s so important that we have something like this available in a public space in the village.”
