COREY O’Keeffe admits his start to the season has been ‘a bit frustrating.’

The wing-back has been in and out of the side, playing mainly on the left after losing his place to Barry Cotter on the right, while he was sent off in the EFL Trophy.

O’Keeffe told the Chronicle: “It’s been a bit frustrating.

“I want to play every game.

“But I feel like I have done OK when I’ve played.

“I just want to get as many starts as possible and be a starter for this team.”

Wing-backs are playing differently at Barnsley since Darrell Clarke took over.

O’Keeffe said: “He wants us to be a bit higher then come inside the pitch which I enjoy doing.

“He wants us to be up there for knockdowns.

“I have been on the left which I enjoy. The gaffer is just saying to express ourselves in the final third but make sure we’re back in when it swings around.”

On the 7-0 loss at Manchester United on Tuesday, O’Keeffe said: “It was tough.

“It was a good experience for the lads but we weren’t at our best.

“It’s an opportunity missed.

“We wanted to give a better account of ourselves especially with the away support we had.

“We were so proud looking up at the fans and we wish we had given them a little bit more, like a goal.

“But we just have to make them proud in the league now.”
