BARNSLEY RUFC can cut the gap between them and safety when they visit third-bottom Thornesians in Yorkshire Division Three tomorrow in their first game of 2025.
The Shaw Laners had lost ten games in a row but won at home to mid-table Rotherham Phoenix in their final fixture before Christmas.
That took them off bottom with ten points from 13 games – and nine to play. They are six below Thornesians but could reduce that gap to one with a bonus point victory.
It is unclear at this point whether one or two sides will be relegated.
Meanwhile, Barnsley Ladies visit Novocastrians in Championship One North.
Both teams are on the same points but Barnsley are below on points difference, and nine clear of the bottom two at the halfway stage of the season.
Elsewhere, Wath visit Beverley in Yorkshire Division One.
Wath are sixth with 29 points from 13 games, four points and one place below Beverley.
Wortley visit Sheffield Medicals in Yorkshire Division Four.
They are currently third while Medicals are second.
Leaders Dearne Valley do not play until January 11 when they visit Wortley.
