A SPECIAL military band showcase will allow locals to see talented musicians vary their style - as they promise to perform everything from Star Wars to the Beatles.
The Band of the Royal Air Force College will be making its first appearance in Barnsley next month with an exciting and varied programme prepared for its show at St Paul’s Church in Monk Bretton.
Taking place on October 19 at 7pm, the musical evening will see the band open with classical ballad Vienna Fanfare - which was played at Westminster Abbey for the coronation of King Charles III - before performing the likes of John Williams’ classic soundtracks from Star Wars and Pee Wee Ellis’ The Chicken.
Bass trombonist, air specialist James Maund, is also set to take on a solo performance of the Beatles song Things We Said Today.
Corporal Tom Maddison said: “It is always nice to play to a new audience in a different venue.
“Opportunities to perform with the brass ensemble are always welcome and we are looking forward to forging new relationships with the people of Barnsley.”
