YOU voted in your droves... but there could only be one winner.
Our quest to find Barnsley’s best coffee went right around the region with strong contenders from all parts of the borough.
But we put it to our readers to decide their favourite and they decided Royston’s Central Cafe was the best.
They saw off strong competition from Audrey’s Coffee House, Gallagher’s of Barnsley, The Old Ivy Shed, The Old George, Rob Royd Farm Shop and Restaurant and The Middle Coffee House to win this year’s title.
Ashley Jackson, owner of Central Cafe, told the Chronicle the win is good for the entirety of the village.
He said: “I’m absolutely buzzing.
“It’s unbelievable.
“We’re in Royston and the others were in the town centre so dare I say they’re busier than us.
“But we’ve won which is great.
“It’s good for the village.
“We’ve been open for two-and-a-half years so this is really great.”
