LAYTON Barnsley scored 108 not out as Notton beat Balby Recreation by 183 runs in Division Five of the Pontefract League.

Barnsley hit 13 fours and four sixes in Notton’s 249 then Balby were bowled out for 66. Tom Hunter and Joe Ashley took three wickets each.

Stainborough chased 159 for a four-wicket win at Newton Hill in Division One. Lewis Shepherd took five wickets and Josh Abson four then George Tyas made 62 and Abson 50 not out. Stainborough are now three points away from getting out of the bottom two.

Thurnscoe’s 180 was not enough in a two-wicket loss to Horbury Bridge. Michael Harvey took four wickets and Jake Whitehurst three.

Notton Challengers won by 72 runs at Bentley Colliery in Division Three. Saad Shaik (53) and Misbah Syed (59 not out) led Notton to 213 then Faisal Yameen took five wickets.

Ryhill and Havercroft won by six runs at Knottingley in Division Four. Joe Corbett made 53 then Jack Vale took five wickets.

West Bretton slipped into the Premier Division bottom two after being dismissed for 106 chasing 207 at home to Oulton. Chris Reece took three wickets.

Darton fell 84 runs short chasing 226 against Rothwell in the Championship. Sam Hawley scored 51 off 39 balls with 11 fours.
