WATH took a huge step towards safety with victory over Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nd XI on Monday.
Hayden Byrne hit 97 in Wath’s 210 then Michael Bates took four wickets to bowl Barnsley out for 94.
Third-bottom Wath are 17 points clear of second-bottom Barnsley with two to go down and three games left.
On Saturday, Wath’s 159 was not enough in a five-wicket home loss to Whiston.
Rockingham won at home to Barnsley 2nd XI on Saturday, thanks to Lasith Lashkan’s 111 off 89 balls with 15 fours and two sixes. Lashkan shared a stand of 151 with Harry Grindle (67) in Rock’s 270. Barnsley fell 65 runs short despite Freddie Chapman making 60. Richard Skipworth took three wickets for Rock.
Rock then won by 87 runs at Doncaster Town 2nd XI.
Lashkan made 67 and Jory Bannister 79 in Rock’s 257 then Lakshan took five wickets.
Houghton Main were removed for 96 in a ten-wicket loss at Aston Hall.
