BARNSLEY will host local rivals Sheffield United in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The game is due to take place on August 27 or 28.
The Reds booked their place in the second round with a penalty shoot-out win at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.
The Blades are back in the Championship after relegation from the top flight and under Chris Wilder’s management for a second time.
Since reaching the fourth round in 2009, and losing to Manchester United at Oakwell, Barnsley have only got past the second round twice – losing in the third against Tottenham at Wembley in 2017 and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 2020.
