Silkstone United won 4-2 at AFC Phoenix on Saturday in the Sheffield Senior Cup.

The scorers were William Heath, Joshua Littlewood, Jack Portman and George Orrell.

Wombwell Town won 3-2 at home to Handsworth in the FA Vase first round.

Owen Sykes and Jordan Kershaw netted within minutes of each other midway through the first half but the visitors came back to 2-2.

Nicholas Guest won it with an 84th-minute penalty.

The competition features clubs from tiers five and six in the non-league system, with the final at Wembley.

Elite AFC won 5-3 at home to Staveley MW reserves in the Central Midlands League on Saturday.

The goals came from Cole Patrick, twice, Sammy Ammisah, Micklewaite and an own goal.

Athersley Rec lost 3-1 at Selby Town in NCEL Division One. They conceded twice late in the first half then again at the start of the second. Alfie Bakes pulled one back right at the end.

Rec are fifth in the table, and in the play-off places, with 29 points from 16 games.

Dearne and District are due to host fourth-placed Maltby Main tonight after moving up to second.

They won 2-1 at Louth Town on Saturday. The hosts took the lead but Jamie Austin scored either side of half-time.

Dearne are second with 38 points from 18 games, leaving them six off leaders Horbury Town and ten clear in the top five play-off places – although almost every side has at least one game in hand on them.

Worsbrough Bridge’s home game with Swallownest was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
