BARNSLEY Youth Bowling Club presented a cheque of £2,024 to Barnsley Hospice after a day-long fundraising event.

Members of the club took part in a 12-hour bowling marathon at Barnsley Bowl, Carlton, last month to raise funds for the charity.

Five children persevered through the full marathon, while others took shifts - together they knocked down 21,990 pins over the course of the day.

Now that all the donations have finally been counted up they were able to hand over a cheque to Barnsley Hospice last weekend.

Corporate partnerships manager at the hospice, Simon Atkinson, said: “Twelve hours of bowling - that alone is an incredible achievement.

“We are immensely grateful to Barnsley Youth Bowling Club for their support in this fundraiser - it’s wonderful to see the next generation of bowlers contributing to Barnsley Hospice.

“We deeply appreciate both the funds raised from the event and Barnsley Bowl’s ongoing support over the past few years.

“Their donations have a significant impact, helping us provide essential care to those who need it most in our community.

“We can’t thank them enough.”
