It was a poor day for Barnsley teams on Sunday in the South Yorkshire League’s Twenty20 Cups.

Barnsley Woolley Miners were knocked out at the first stage of the Twenty20 Blast which they had won in the previous two seasons.

They were skittled for 95 chasing 114 against Shiregreen.

They then chased 155 against Wakefield Thornes to win with four wickets and one ball left. Adam Copley took three wickets then hit 20 not out off seven balls including 19 off the last over.

Jacob Cumming had made 59 off 52 balls.

Barnsley finished bottom of their group on run-rate after all three teams took two points.

Cawthorne lost twice at Sheffield Collegiate in their Twenty20 group. In the first game, they made 109 - as Liam Wiles hit 58 off 49 balls - but lost by ten wickets. They then lost by nine wickets after posting 132 with Michael Jepps scoring 50 not out then Archie Greaves hitting 53 not out off 29 balls with five sixes.

Wath were knocked out of the Twenty20 Plate.

They made 118 in a five-wicket loss to Rotherham Town then lost by seven wickets against Hallam after posting 124.

Darfield fell short on 106 chasing Ackworth’s 217 then bowled Oughtibridge out for 112 in a six-wicket win.

Joe Stickland took four wickets then top-scored with 65 not out off 52 balls.

Darfield finished third in their group.
