STAGECOACH were forced to pull the 226 bus from Bolton-upon-Dearne at the weekend following antisocial behaviour - just months after the service was brought back.
In October 2022, Stagecoach suspended all services running into the Thurnscoe area after 5pm after missiles were launched at passing buses.
Following a six-month hiatus, the bus operator working alongside South Yorkshire Police brought back the service to Thurnscoe in a ‘trial period’ in May.
However, they said at the time the service would be stopped again should antisocial behaviour continue.
It was finally brought back full-time in March - but on Sunday the service was temporarily stopped after a bus was smashed by young people in the area.
Coun Abi Moore, who represents the Dearne South ward, told the Chronicle: “This is so disheartening.
“It is such a pity that the mindless actions of a few vandals now has an impact on everyone who needs to use the 226 bus service.
“Targeting any vehicle in this way is incredibly dangerous and I urge anyone with any information who saw young people in the area throwing stones to contact South Yorkshire Police.”
