BARNSLEY under 18s kept their chances of retaining their league title alive with a 3-1 win at home to Cardiff City on Tuesday.
The visitors scored an early own goal then Emmaisa Nzondo’s powerful strike made it 2-0 to the Reds after 20 minutes.
Nzondo was sent off after the interval following an incident off the ball with the visiting goalkeeper.
Cardiff pulled one back but then had a player sent off for dissent, before Jonathan Bland headed in Barnsley’s third.
The under 18s’ game at home to leaders Birmingham on Saturday was called off on Saturday.
They are second in the table, 13 points behind the leaders who have played four games more.
Nicky Eaden’s side still have 14 games to play.
They are due to host Burnley from 1pm on Friday then visit Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.
Barnsley under 21s are due to visit Birmingham City to play at their St Andrew’s Stadium from 7pm on Wednesday.
