BARNSLEY Council has apologised to any residents who suffered disruption to their bin collections over the last week.
A spokesman said there were some issues with the interpretation of safe systems of work documents which have been in use for several years.
This led to some confusion and service interruptions.
Coun James Higginbottom, cabinet spokesperson for environment and highways, said: “We have a robust plan to clear this backlog and get services back to normal.
“Our teams will focus on picking up uncollected bins and incomplete rounds by the end of Monday.
“Residents are asked to leave their bins out if they’ve not been collected - we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.”
