A SECOND water leak in as many weeks closed a major road into Barnsley town centre.
On Monday, a burst water pipe forced Burton Road to be closed due to damage done to the surface.
It forced motorists to be diverted onto Wakefield Road - an already busy area - at peak times, clogging up the road network.
It comes just days after Lambra Road, in the town centre, was almost fully submerged in water due to another leak.
That area has been closed off for a number of days whilst the surface is made safe once again - but there’s no indication of how long Burton Road will remain shut.
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Water told the Chronicle: “There was a burst pipe on Burton Road on Monday, which our teams worked hard to fix.
“There is some damage to the road, which will remain closed until it is reinstated and safe to reopen.
“We know road works like this can be inconvenient and would like to thank our customers for their patience.”
