A CARE home which has been told it requires improvement in every inspection by the Care Quality Commission since 2018 has shut down.
Woodlands Lodge Care Home, based on Hawshaw Lane in Hoyland, cared for people with dementia and recently had its contract terminated by Barnsley Council.
At its most recent full inspection in 2020 by the CQC, bosses were told that although staff were very caring towards residents, the home was not always safe.
After the council ended its contract a total of 16 residents have been moved to alternative homes across the town.
Coun Jo Newing, cabinet spokesperson for place health and adult social care, told the Chronicle: “We have been working closely with the home’s residents, families and staff who have all been made aware of the decision to end the contract with Woodlands Lodge.
“Sixteen residents have moved to alternative placements in Barnsley and we have identified homes for all remaining residents.
“Our social care team are currently finalising arrangements for those individuals.
“Our staff have remained on site at Woodlands Lodge to offer support to residents, families and staff.”
