A POLICE investigation has been launched after a shoplifter reportedly assaulted a woman yesterday.
At around 2.03pm on Monday, police were called to reports of a robbery and assault at B and M on Neville Avenue in Kendray.
It’s believed that a man stole a basket of items from the store before assaulting a woman who attempted to stop him leaving with the items.
The woman then travelled to hospital to be treated for her injuries.
A police spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with any information that could help the investigation is asked to call 101.
“Please quote incident number 493 of September 16 when you get in touch.”
