BARNSLEY’S only roller derby team will celebrate its fifth birthday later this month.
The Barnsley Black Heart Rollers was founded in 2012 and will hold a family fun day in Locke Park to mark the occasion.
The sport involves teams of five players each roller-skating around a track in the same direction, with one person on each team attempting to lap the opposition to score points. It is the opposing team’s job to stop them.
It is popular in America and is becoming increasingly popular here.
