AN AMERICAN mum and the family who hadn’t seen her for three months have finally been reunited - but they still don’t know for how long.

Barnsley man Liam Smith and his American wife Katlyn have been married for seven years and have two sons together, Phillip, seven, and Roman, two.

They featured in the Chronicle last week when Katlyn, 26, was refused a visa to live and work here. Officials were not convinced the couple’s relationship was genuine or that they even had children together - despite being provided photographs and birth certificates naming them as parents to both boys.

But Katlyn flew back from the USA to Manchester on Friday anyway to plead with officials that she should be allowed back to at least visit her children despite the visa refusal. She was armed with a letter in support from their MP Dan Jarvis.
