AN ‘extremely concerning’ £30m is being spent each year on placements for children in care - prompting council bosses to put forward a new scheme which would provide support to those who are currently at risk. At Wednesday’s cabinet meeting, ruling members will be asked to approve the creation of the service - including a temporary one-off investment of up to £1.16m over the next 18 months to embed and evaluate the service. The proposals...

Reds fan Jake to make debut at Metrodome after missing out on Oakwell
NEW professional Jake Jon Cleary may have missed out on a chance to box at his beloved Oakwell but says the Metrodome is a very good second best. The Wombwell welterweight, 27, is a big Reds’ fan who would have enjoyed a dream debut had he featured on Callum Simpson’s undercard back in August but the lengthy process of getting a professional licence ruled that out. He will instead punch for pay for the first...
