BARNSLEY North MP Dan Jarvis recently paid a special visit to a Mapplewell primary school.

Dan visited Wellgate Primary School as part of its careers week.

The week is dedicated to giving schoolchildren information and guidance on the future careers they could follow after education.

The school invited a range of speakers to give an assembly talk on their jobs, and children were able to ask questions about their roles.

Dan said: “It was a real pleasure to attend Wellgate Primary’s careers week to talk to the children about my former jobs as a soldier and South Yorkshire Mayor, as well as my current jobs as a local MP and Security Minister.

“It was great to see the enthusiasm and ambition they have towards their future careers, and to take some questions from the children - some of which could even rival the toughest questions I get asked in the House of Commons.”
