BARNSLEY girl Carly Tierney has won a bodybuilding competition after overcoming both bulimia and anorexia.
Carly, 31, Maydal Drive, of Woolley Grange, was placed first in the Miami Pro UK competition at St Albans after years of battling the eating disorders.
She donned a bikini and sparkly heels for the contest and beat off stiff competition from 65 entrants in the 'Miss Bikini Tall' category.
She trained for at the gym twice a day for eight weeks and followed a bodybuilding diet because she was judged on how her body looked, how athletic her muscle tone was and how she presented herself on stage.
"As a child I was always a bit chubby and I used to yo-yo diet and then I had really bad bulimia which turned into anorexia", said Carly."I have completely changed how I feel about my body. I want to be strong, fit and healthy and my body is a a reminder of how far I've come in overcoming my demons."
