Barnsley Women’s FC won 2-1 at home to leaders Northampton Town in Division One Midlands at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.
Anita Gaspar scored an injury-time penalty following a foul on Jodie Snelson who had earlier equalised from outside the box after Northampton took an early lead.
BWFC, who are not affiliated with the Oakwell club, are sixth with 25 points from 16 games.
Manager Craige Richardson said: “I couldn’t be happier for the girls.
“Northampton were 12 games unbeaten since the first game of the season.
“But I think 2-1 flattered them a bit.
“The application was brilliant and the belief in that changing room is second to none.”
They are now due to visit Notts County on Tuesday evening.
