Cyclist Imogen Wolff completed another of the classic ‘monument’ road races this week as she took on the Paris-Roubaix in France.
The 19-year-old from Silkstone, who is in her first season of professional racing, finished 24th over the 150k course.
Her Visma Lease-a-Bike team-mate Pauline Ferrand-Prevot won the race which is mainly over cobblestones and nicknamed ‘the hell of the north.’
Imogen, who had attended the event as a fan 13 years earlier, wrote on social media: “I love this team, I love this race, I love this sport.
“Merci Roubaix, Merci Pauline, Merci Girls. That was beyond cool.”
Meanwhile, Jenson Young finished 39th in the Sea Otter Classic in California.
The 23-year-old from Hemingfield is competing in a global gravel racing championship this year.
Birdwell Wheeler Trevor Mayne undertook two gruelling rides this month.
He rode the Ronde van Flaanderen sportive which followed the route taken the next day by the World Tour professionals as one of the monument races.
Mayne completed the 160km ride, including 2,000 metres of cobbled climbs, in six hours and 50 minutes.
The following Saturday, he rode the Paris-Roubaix sportive, again following the route of another monument race the following day.
Mayne finished in just over six hours.
Closer to home, on Tuesday evening, Wheeler Dan Taylor rode his first time-trial for more than a year.
In the Border City Wheelers ten-mile event, he was delighted to record a time of 23-02, placing fifth in a field of 17.
