DEARNE Valley can win Yorkshire Division Four on Saturday in their first season at that level.

The Bolton upon Dearne club won 74-15 at Wortley in an all-Barnsley clash and are 16 points clear at the top with four games left.

If they beat bottom club Knottingley they will have an unassailable lead.

Knottingley – who drew with second-placed Sheffield Medicals on Saturday – have withdrawn from five games this season including one with Dearne.

Against Wortley, Jacob Mangham scored three tries and Arron Kite two with the others coming from Callum Emery, Sam Holt, Ben Hartley, Andrew Thorpe, Anthony Kenney, Todd Bailey and Steve Shaw.

There were also seven conversions from Shaw.

Wortley are second-bottom and due to host Hessle on Saturday.

Barnsley jumped out of the Yorkshire Division Three relegation zone with a 19-7 win at home to fellow bottom four side Skipton.

Mitch Lofthouse scored two tries and Tom Hardwick one with Josh Smith and Chris Peel kicking conversions.

William Morris and Kez Hyde were sent off.

The third-bottom Shaw Laners have won three in a row and have 24 points from 17 games, and five to play.

They are two clear of the bottom two and 13 ahead of bottom club Thirsk.

They visit fifth-bottom Burley next.

Barnsley Ladies did not play this week – as their game with Cheltenham Tigers was postponed – but are due to host second-bottom Bishop Auckland on Sunday in the Championship North.

Wath lost 35-13 at home to Yorkshire Division One leaders North Ribblesdale who have won all 17 games with season with bonus points.

Brandon Coult scored a try for Wath which was converted by Jack Whitlam who also kicked two penalties.

They are now sixth with 34 points from 17 games and host Harrogate Pythons on Saturday.
