PENISTONE Church drew 0-0 at home to third-placed Thackley in the NCEL Premier.
They are now eighth on 42 points from 30 games, and eight to play, which leaves them seven points off the play-offs. They have won one in nine since November. Debutant Oliver Jackson was sent off.
Manager Steve Lenthall said: “In the first half we created a couple of chances and limited Thackley.
“We said at half-time if we carried on with the performance we’d always create chances and we did that but then Oliver got sent off just after the hour mark we changed the pack a little bit.
“Thackley pushed on to go and win it but on the counter attack we looked really dangerous, and we probably could have scored.
“It was a really positive result, it’s nice to say that we performed for 90 plus minutes, we all put a shift in and did our job and that’s a platform we can build on. Again we have to thank all the fans – they’ve turned out in their numbers again on a miserable day and it was nice to be able to put a performance in for them.”
