AN 11-year-old has raised nearly £2,000 for charity by donating his hair to youngsters going through cancer treatment - and is now preparing to start again.
For Trinity Academy St Edward’s pupil Harry Grantham, visiting the barber is a once in a blue moon activity.
Back in 2021, when he was just seven, he raised £745 the Little Princess Trust and donated his hair to the trust which provides free real hair wigs to children and young people, up to 24 years, who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions
Then, last year, the kind-hearted Dodworth schoolboy raised over £1,000 while donating 13-and-a-half inches of hair.
His mum, Katie, told the Chronicle: “He’s just started growing it back again.
“I think he just wanted to help people.
“At first, some of the mums from school had done it to raise money and so I mentioned it to him.
“Once he heard about it he decided he was going to do it himself.”
The year seven pupil said he ‘just likes doing it’ and that ‘everyone deserves hair’.
“He’s got really lovely thick hair and it grows back fast,” Katie added.
“So that’s really lucky for him.”
For his continued hard work, Harry has been put forward in the Young Fundraiser category of this year’s Young Champions awards.
His mum said: “It’s lovely.
“This isn’t why he does it, so it’s a lovely thing to be nominated for.”
