STEPHANIE Peacock, the MP for Barnsley South, recently met with Magic Breakfast.

The initiative ensures that primary school kids can access a filling and nutritious breakfast before they begin their school day.

There are a number of schools who are part of the Magic Breakfast scheme in Barnsley and Ms Peacock has visited some of the clubs and spoken to the children having breakfast there.

The government has committed to delivering free breakfasts for schoolchildren, with the Chancellor Rachel Reeves announcing that hundreds of schools would be able to offer this provision from April.

Stephanie said: “I was pleased to meet with Magic Breakfast recently.

“They run an excellent scheme, ensuring that children can access breakfast before they start their work day.

“As a former teacher, I know the importance of making sure that pupils are well fed before a day of learning, and I am pleased that schools in Barnsley are able to access this brilliant service.

“I was pleased that the Chancellor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to easing child poverty through the introduction of breakfast clubs for schoolchildren and that hundreds of schools will be able to deliver this from April 2025.”
