CRAFTY residents in Cawthorne have been working together to commemorate Remembrance Sunday in a special way.

Members of Cawthorne Methodist Church, as well as the wider community, have come together to knit and crochet special poppies ahead of the day in November.

Margaret Cooper, a steward at the church, told the Chronicle: “We’re knitting and crocheting poppies for Remembrance Sunday.

“We’ll be doing the normal red ad white poppies as well as purple ones for the service animals.

“We’ve invited the whole community to come and get involved.

“We’ve had three year olds helping all the way up to people who are over 100.

“It’s just got the community together.”
