Barnsley will assess the fitness of three of their forwards this week while introducing two more into the training group.

Max Watters, who had scored two in his previous two games, limped off with a foot injury after nine minutes at his former club Crawley Town on Saturday. Sam Cosgrove, who started the season alongside Watters, has missed the last two matches with a ‘knock’ but head coach Darrell Clarke said at the weekend he didn’t know when the tall targetman would be back.

Fabio Jalo, 18, is yet to play this season after hurting his shoulder in pre-season but is thought to be recovering in the gym and non-contact training.

Meanwhile, Barnsley brought in Davis Keillor-Dunn from Mansfield Town and Stephen Humphrys on deadline day last Friday.

LOPATA, SHEPHERD AND DALLAS IN LOAN ACTION

Kacper Łopatą madę his debut for Ross County who he joined last week on loan for the season.

The centre-back started against Aberdeen but came off after 80 minutes and his team conceded the only goal in the 98th.

Another centre-back Jack Shepherd came off the bench for Bradford City in their 2-1 loss at Grimsby Town in League Two.

Shepherd is yet to start for the Bantams.

Andy Dallas came off the bench in Barrow’s League Two win at Harrogate. The striker is yet to start for the Cumbrian club, who play Bolton in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.

Young goalkeeper Rogan Ravenhill kept a clean sheet in Matlock Town’s 0-0 draw with Spalding in the Northern Premier League.

WOMEN WAIT FOR FIRST LEAGUE WIN

Barnsley FC women are still looking for their first win of the league season.

They lost 2-1 at home to Cheadle Town Stingers in the National League Division One North on Sunday.

They are ninth with two points from three games and visit local rivals Doncaster Rovers Belles on Sunday.

STONES COULD GO PAST 80 ENGLAND CAPS

Former Barnsley player John Stones could become one of England’s most capped defenders of all-time in the current international break.

The Thurlstone man, who currently has 79 caps, has been selected by caretaker boss Lee Carsley for the Nations League games with the Republic of Ireland on Saturday in Dublin and Finland on Tuesday at Wembley.

If he appears in both, the Manchester City man will go level with Rio Ferdinand on 81 caps – with the only centre-back who has more being World Cup winner Bobby Moore.
