DARFIELD moved back into the South Yorkshire League Division One promotion places after a one-wicket win at Rotherham Town.

Joe Stickland took five wickets as Rotherham were dismissed for 110.

Darfield were 106 for five then 109 for nine before the hosts bowled two wides.

Darfield are in the second of two promotion places but just four points clear of sixth with four games left.

Monk Bretton chased 200 for a four-wicket win at home to Treeton 2nd XI in Division Two.

Steven Honeyman took six wickets then the Monks were 76 for six but won without further loss as number eight Scott Latimer hit 85 not out off 53 balls with ten fours and five sixes.

With five games left, Monks are two points clear in the top three – although fourth-placed Hallam have played two extra games – and six behind second-placed Penistone who were removed for 74 by Hallam chasing 177.

Tom Exley took five wickets and William Tyas three.

Wath 2nd XI skittled Hatfield Town for 54 in a five-wicket win. Mark Wilson took six for three off nine overs.

Kexborough were given a two-wicket win at Caribbean Sports in Division Three.

Kexborough were 27 runs short of their target of 193 with eight wickets down but won on countback after ‘reaching the higher score after 43 overs when it was past cut-off time’ according to the scorecard. Adam Robinson took three wickets.

Higham fell 49 runs short chasing 206 at Norton Woodseats.

Brad Gledhill took three wickets and George Deegan scored 50.

Worsbrough Bridge were dismissed for 129 in a six-wicket loss to Millhouses Works.

Barnsley Woolley Miners 3rd XI won by 105 balls at home to Cawthorne 2nd XI.

Lewis Bray whacked 80 off 54 balls with 12 fours and four sixes in Barnsley’s 236 then Joshua Hartfield took five wickets.

Wombwell Main won by 142 runs at Conisbrough 2nd XI in Division Four.

Scott Aranyi (86), Matt Tonks (70) and Jonathan Scaife (80) led Wombwell to 323 from 46 overs then Scaife took six wickets and Tonks three.

Main are sixth, three places and eight points off the three promotion spots.

Bottom club Silkstone United fell 88 runs short chasing 258 at Shiregreen 2nd XI.

Christopher Barraclough took five wickets then hit 61 not out.

Rockingham 2nd XI’s 190 was not enough in an eight-wicket defeat to Sheffield Collegiate 4th XI.

Kelham Bennett and Jack Riley both made 54 in Rockingham’s 190.

Green Moor fell 38 runs short chasing 154 at Adwick-le-Street in Division Seven. Harry Airstone took three wickets for Green Moor who are still four points clear at the top with four games remaining.

Higham 2nd XI won by a wicket chasing 157 at home to Sheffield United 2nd XI in Division Six. Steven Bamforth took five wickets then Jak Rennison made 66 not out with four sixes.

Penistone 2nd XI won by 48 runs at Mexborough.

James Sen scored 61 and Scott Jones added 57 in Penistone’s 183.

Worsbrough Bridge 2nd XI beat Elsecar 3rd XI by 75 runs in Division Eight. Robert Stubbings (59) led Bridge to 196, with Elsecar’s William Reavill taking four wickets. Richard Stump was the only Elsecar player to reach double figures with 86 off 71 balls including 11 fours and five sixes.

Alex Tonge took four wickets for Worsbrough.

Wombwell Main 2nd XI dismissed Monk Bretton 2nd XI for 89 in a nine-wicket win. Ian Davis made 66 for the Monks.

Silkstone United 2nd XI lost by a wicket defending 162 at home to Whiston Forge 2nd XI in Division Nine. Joe Green took four wickets.
