A YOUNG Barnsley DJ who has been spinning his decks since he was just nine years old is hoping his talent books him a gig in Ibiza.

Harry Bonell, 13, from Higham, goes by the stage name Harry Tempo - and he’s causing quite the stir on the scene.

The Darton High School pupil has amassed thousands of followers on Instagram and has a regular DJ set at Bramall Lane for Sheffield United’s home matches.

Harry’s dad, Chris, is a DJ himself but it wasn’t until lockdown when he really started to show his passion.

His mum, 39-year-old Helen, told the Chronicle: “He had some little decks and was doing it for me and his dad in the garden.

“My husband is a DJ but he’s taught himself how to do it by watching YouTube videos and things like that.

“He now does a lot for Sheffield United and he’s hoping he’ll be doing the fanzone this season.

“He’s also been to Tenerife and gone down to London to do some events.”

But Harry - whose favourite artist is James Hype - is hoping to emulate the success of fellow Barnsley-born DJ Hot Since 82 by performing in Ibiza.

“He’s done the Salt House in town and some other big events but he really wants to go to Ibiza,” Helen added.

“That’s his main ambition.

“He loves James Hype and he produces his own music - all of it’s one Apple Music and Spotify.

“He’s on the list to perform at Bam-Bu-Ku in Ibiza so hopefully we’ll see him there next year.”
