GUNTHWAITE’S debut Olympian Becky Moody secured her own individual spot in the weekend finale and also put Team GB in a strong position to reach the team final.
The 44-year-old, who was a late call-up to the full-time squad after the much publicised withdrawal of Charlotte Dujardin, rode her horse Jagerbomb in the first day of the team dressage Grand Prix event at Cheateau de Versailles.
Becky’s total of 74.938 was enough to secure top spot in her group. She will now compete in Sunday’s final.
Team GB teammate Carl Hester also got off to a solid start with a score of 77.345 which earned him third spot in his own group.
Their total of 152.283 puts Team GB second in the team competition at the halfway point.
Denmark lead the way with 154.938 and Sweden are in third with 145.870.
The third member of the British team, Lottie Fry, will compete early on Wednesday morning with her score to be added to the team total.
The top ten scoring teams will advance to Saturday’s final.
