Houghton Main moved closer to relegation from the SYL Championship after comprehensive defeat in a basement battle with Barnsley Woolley Miners 2nd XI.

Houghton were removed for 100 in the eight-wicket loss and are 60 points off safety.

They have won just once all season and been deducted 18 points.

Barnsley, for whom Nick Robinson took six wickets, are just five points off third-bottom Wath who lost by seven wickets at home to Sheffield Collegiate 2nd XI after making 173. Hayden Byrne scored 71.

Rockingham fell 78 runs short chasing 227 at Wickersley.

Lasith Lakshan took five wickets and Zobair Khaliq three then Harry Grindle (62) and Ben Dalton (58) shared an opening stand of 110.
