Barnsley have signed midfielder Matthew Craig on loan for the season from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder played once for Spurs in the Premier League, against Leeds, who were relegated that day, in May last year. He then played 20 games on loan to League Two Doncaster Rovers earlier this year, losing in the play-off semi-final.
Craig told the club media team: “It’s been really good so far. I’ve looked around the ground – which is beautiful – really good stadium. The people I have talked to already have been really welcoming, it’s been good.”
Sporting director Mladen Sormaz added: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Matty to Oakwell. He is a young player that will provide a different option in the midfielder with his ability to regain possession and physicality.
“We are happy to have him join the squad to provide competition and thank Spurs for trusting us with a talent like Matty.”
