‘FRUSTRATING SETBACK’ FOR WATTERS

Darrell Clarke said he hoped Max Watters’ injury picked up on Saturday was ‘a little setback’.

The striker came off after only seven minutes of Barnsley’s 1-1 draw at Cambridge United.

Clarke did not reveal details on the injury but told the Chronicle: “It’s a little setback. It’s frustrating because Max Watters was just getting into some rhythm.”

WOMEN DRAW AT LEADERS

Barnsley FC women play the bottom two in their league in early December after drawing 2-2 at then leaders Middlesbrough on Sunday.

The Reds are eighth in the 12-team National League Division One North with ten points from ten games. They are a point clear of the two-team relegation zone and also a point below sixth.

After a two-week break, their next two games are at second-bottom York City on December 1 then last-placed AFC Fylde on December 8.

At Middlesbrough, the Reds led twice through an own goal then an Alayna Millard strike. But the hosts levelled twice including in the 87th minute.

VIMAL AND JOSIAH IN INTERNATIONAL ACTION

Vimal Yoganathan and Josiah Dyer have been on international duty over the weekend.

Wales under 19s lost 2-1 against France on Saturday, with midfielder Vimal coming on after 83 minutes. They complete their games in this international against Liechtenstein on Tuesday evening.

Striker Dyer played twice for Montserrat in El Salvador. They lost 2-1 to St Vincent and the Grenadines on Thursday evening, with Dyer coming off the bench. He then played the full 90 minutes of a 1-0 loss against El Salvador on Monday. The Emerald Boyz finished last in their Nations League group.

LOANEE DALLAS NETS AGAIN

Barnsley loanee Andy Dallas made it two goals in as many games for Barrow.

The striker levelled in a 3-1 League Two loss at home to Wimbledon. He had also scored in the EFL Trophy against Aston Villa under 21s in the previous game.

Dallas – who is contracted at Barnsley until the end of next season – has four goals in total this season for the Cumbrians, in four starts and ten substitute appearances.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Kieren Flavell was praised for his performance in Farsley Celtic's 1-0 win at Bamber Bridge in the FA Trophy.

UNDER 18S WIN AT HULL

Barnsley under 18s won 3-1 at Hull City in the league on Saturday. The scorers were Feyi Afuape, Luke Alker and Jack Woodcock.

The young Reds are due to host Hull in the PDL Cup on Saturday. The under 21s are set to visit Coventry City on Tuesday afternoon.
