A LOCAL photographer has been on a winning streak as she’s been crowned the top newborn snapper for two years running.
Kathryn Simpson opened her studio Bumblebugs Photography - which is based on Eldon Street in the town centre - in 2013.
Since then, the 35-year-old newborn photography specialist - who didn’t let her failed photography A level stop her - has become an award-winning photographer, earning two Prestige Photography Awards in just as many years.
“I won last year after being nominated by someone anonymous,” she told the Chronicle.
“I got the phone call a couple of weeks back telling me I’d won again and couldn’t believe it.
“It just makes me really happy.”
Having worked in the industry for 20 years now, it was only a decade back - when her first son Matthew was born - that she realised what she wanted to focus on.
She added: “I took pictures with my first son and I just got the bug.
“The last ten years have been an absolute whirlwind.
“But I love my job - it doesn’t feel like work a lot of the time.”
