THE BARNSLEY Sunday League season is due to end on Friday night with cup silverware and the Premier Division title on the line.

Birdwell Rovers and Cobcar play in the Hospital Cup final at Athersley Rec from 7.15pm.

They won their semi-finals 3-1 over Darfield Queen Vic and Worsbrough United respectively in midwek.

Athersley Rec beat Premier Division leaders Cobcar – who were playing their last game – 5-0 to move within a point off top with games in hand. Athersley could have taken the title at Birdwell on Tuesday but lost 4-2. Birdwell’s scorers were Samuel Scrivens, Josh Brown and Alexander Vaines.

Rec are due to play their final game at home to Wombwell Town on Friday, with a point giving them the league title. They will be on the reserves pitch due to the cup final.

Wombwell Main host Worsbrough United.

Eastfield Athletic beat Queen Vic 3-2 in the Championship on Tuesday.
