THE world-famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band has announced the appointment of a new professional conductor.
Michael Bach has taken the band for the last three contests, and has now been handed the role on a permanent basis.
He will visit the band four times a year which will include all the major competitions as well as some other high-profile performances.
Michael said: “The appointment as professional conductor of such a famous and world-renowned band as Grimethorpe Colliery is of course a great honour for me, and I look forward to being able to realise many exciting projects with the band.
” I will strive to continue and add to the great musical legacy of the band, especially in terms of repertoire development with new music, but of course not without neglecting the competitions.”
