POLICE are hunting for suspects after a man died in hospital with suspected stab wounds.
Police were called at around 9pm on Wednesday to reports that a man had serious injuries on Newton Street, in the town centre.
Upon arrival at hospital, officers located a 22-year-old man with suspected stab wounds to his chest.
Police have confirmed an investigation is now underway.
DI Matthew Bolger, the senior investigating officer, said: “This is a truly awful incident in which a young man has tragically lost his life.
“I know there will be concerns from the community and I can assure residents we have dedicated teams working around the clock to investigate what has happened.”
A spokesperson added: “His family has been informed and is being supported by officers.
