KES SALUTE: Author Barry Hines’ daughter and granddaughter Sally and Eve Hines unveil the tribute statue now on display at Hoyland library. Picture: Wes Hobson. PD090994.
PLANS to erect a Kes statue a stone’s throw away from Barry Hines’ former home have been approved.
An application to create the artwork, which will depict Billy Casper and Kes in Hoyland Common, were submitted last month.
It’s the second piece of artwork in relation to the hit film in the past few years, after a similar statue was erected which is now situated outside the Alhambra in Barnsley town centre.
The plans were given the green light by the council’s planning board earlier this week.
