PRIMARY school children were surprised with a visit from an ITV weather reporter to help with their lessons on the Amazon.
Pupils in year three at Queens Road Academy met Kerrie Gosney, a weather presenter for ITV North.
The visit was organised by teaching assistant Rachael Robson. “Kerrie kindly gave up time on her day off to speak to the children, which I thought was very kind of her,” she said.
“The children have been working so hard learning about the climate in the Amazon and this gave them the opportunity to ask any questions they had about weather.
“The children also had the opportunity to learn about green screen technology and they seemed really impressed with that.
“This has given the children of all abilities a nice big confidence boost as they were all really excited to meet someone of her calibre, who is on their televisions most days.”
Kerrie encouraged pupils to take their own photos of weather and send them to her.
